Clickminded free seo course review and highlights
It's free to watch here. But it is said that you will lose access to the course within 7 days if you do not complete it. I watched it and here is my list of its highlights.
Highlights
Most users do a new search instead of traversing through pages on the search results page, so if they can not find a relevant website on the first page they will just refine the search phrase and that's why Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is so important.
What SEO is not:
- SEO is not buying traffic
- SEO is not a scam or illegal or black-hat tactic
- SEO is not against a search engine's terms of service
- SEO is not just for Google
- SEO is not fast
- SEO is not really that hard
What is SEO: act of acquiring traffic from search engines for your own digital assets. It consists of:
- Document relevancy
- Attention & Authority
- Technical optimization
What is Document relevancy:
- web-page content itself
- search engine job is to understand what user wants and help them to find it
- our job is to create relevant content that answers their questions
- process of helping search engines to understand what our content is about
What is Attention & Authority:
- web-site popularity
- links from authoritative sites
- video views, link clicks, downloads, engagement, and so on
What is Technical optimization:
- non-content optimization

➥ One core keyword that you intend to promote = One page, not an entire site, not a bunch of keywords on a single page.
- Google rank pages not domains.
- Write Title tag for users, not for robots.
- Meta Description tag does not impact rankings, but does impact CTR, since google shows it on the search page and bolds the user's search phrase.
- Make sure not to have more than one H1 tag.
- Use human-friendly Images alt attributes.

Bad: graphic #6
Bad: Buy Nike shoes online cheap
Good: Mens Boat Shoe
➥ At least 100 words for page, use keywords 2-3 times + LSI keywords + synonyms. LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords are words that are commonly used within the context of the main topic.
Keywords: morning coffee
LSI keywords for Coffee: machine, recipe, glass, water, cup...
Synonyms for Coffee: cappuccino, latte, espresso, decaf...
➥ "Three clicks rule" - get every page using only three clicks from the home page. It also means that every web page URL must be no more than 3 levels of path nesting.

➥ Link to already well-ranked pages, competitors, authorities, and maybe remove the links later when your own page got traffic.
➥ SEO UX signals that matter:
- click-through rate (CTR) - number of clicks the page received on search results page
- dwell time - how much time the user spends on your site
- bounce rate - percentage of users that leave the page without action
- pogo sticking - user clicks a search result, and then quickly clicks back, and then another search result
➥ How to improve UX signal metrics:
- use dates, numbers, power words in titles.
- use benefit-driven headlines, keep paragraphs short, break up text with images and headings.
- front load your best content. Show links to the most popular posts and other posts that are relevant to the content of current one.
- embed relevant media, such as youtube video
Power words in titles.

➥ Do research. Just search for the keyword and check for the first 5 results, try to analyze and ask yourself how and why do they get there.
